A Shimmering Blizzard: Everything You Need to Know About Disney Lorcana: Winterspell (Set 11)

The story of Lorcana takes a chilling turn this February. Following the "Whispers in the Well" arc, an Elsa glimmer has inadvertently unleashed a magical blizzard across the realm to halt the spread of flood ink vines. This setting provides the backdrop for Winterspell, the 11th main expansion, which officially hits Local Game Stores on February 13, 2026, followed by a wide release on February 20, 2026.

New Gameplay Mechanisms

Winterspell introduces tactical innovations designed to address the "going first" advantage and reward synergistic deck building:

  • Underdog Keyword: Specifically designed for the player going second. Characters with Underdog (typically 2-cost) can be played for 1 ink less if it is your first turn and you were not the starting player. This allows the second player to establish a Turn 1 presence that rivals the first player's tempo.
  • Evolved Boost: Returning from Set 10, the Boost mechanic (placing cards face-down under characters) now features scaling rewards. New cards provide increasing power, lore, or protection based on the total number of cards currently boosted under that character.
  • "Exert" Triggers: Several new cards, such as Bambi – Great Prince, now feature abilities that trigger "whenever this character exerts," allowing players to gain value from singing or challenging rather than just questing.

New Characters & Franchises

Set 11 brings some of Disney’s most iconic missing links into the game:

  • Pocahontas: Making her long-awaited debut alongside Grandmother Willow, Meeko, Flit, and John Smith.
  • Darkwing Duck: The "Terror that Flaps in the Night" joins the rosters with high-utility items and synergistic abilities for Steel and Sapphire builds.
  • Mickey’s Christmas Carol: A perfect thematic fit, featuring Scrooge McDuck (as Ebenezer), the three Christmas Spirits, and Goofy as Jacob Marley.
  • The Fox and the Hound: Tod and Copper arrive with new synergies for Amber and Emerald decks, focusing on "Follower" and Evasive keywords.

The Watch List: Cards for Players & Collectors

Based on competitive testing and rarity scarcity, these four cards are the highlights of the set:

  1. Angel – Siren Singer (Amber): A 2-cost Underdog Singer. If you go second, she hits the board on Turn 1, allowing you to sing 3-cost songs (like Friends on the Other Side) as early as Turn 2.
  2. Pocahontas – Peacekeeper (Iconic Rarity): This card debuts the new "Iconic" rarity tier, which is even scarcer than Enchanted. Her ability prevents an opponent from challenging any of your characters for a full turn.
  3. Grandmother Willow – Ancient Advisor (Amber): A massive meta-contender that reduces the cost of the first character you play each turn by 1 ink.
  4. Wreck-It Ralph – Raging Wrecker (Ruby): A high-cost legendary that acts as a board wipe, banishing characters based on his strength—which increases for every card you Boost under him.
